How Leading a Green Way of Life Can Help Save Our Environment
Oct 31st, 2011 by Luis
All of us should be concerned about living green. It means so much to the next generations. Any damage we do right now to our earth, will cause bigger problems for our kids, and their kids. Everybody can join the fight, including children and the elderly.
Over the last several years, we’ve learned a lot we didn’t know about the importance of living green. Many organizations have gotten involved; not simply the government and the EPA, but others, too, including the Girl and Boy Scouts, and many more.
Celebrities have become involved with living green campaigns too, as many actors, musicians, and other well-known people have made public service announcements that have been effective. This has caught the eyes and ears of commercial enterprises. They contribute by manufacturing safer products for the environment, like solor recessed deck lighting. If several manufacturers turn a deaf ear, we can move them to do the right thing by not purchasing their products.
Business enterprises will respond to this pressure by improving the quality and environmental friendliness of their wares. All businesses exist entirely to make a profit. If they create products that are bad for the environment, people will refuse to buy them and they’ll have to change or fold. A good consumer boycott is the most effective and fastest way to get the problem companies to alter their ways.
We, the average people, have the ability to make a huge difference.
We the people can also make a huge difference if we simply begin recycling. You would not believe the stuff we discard each day. Over the course of just one year, the average household’s one bag of garbage a day has a tremendous impact upon the local landfill. To help with this problem, you can get started by getting rid of glass, plastic, cardboard, styrofoam and paper goods from your usual garbage bags. You’ll be astounded at how effective this easy step can be, once you begin. It is really simple to carry out when you have containers for each product to recycle. To make this easy to remember each day, just place your recycling bins in an accessible area, such as your garage or backyard.
There are things that can be done to use a lot less paper products. Cloth napkins, which can be washed and used over and over again, can substitute for paper napkins. Paper consumption may be reduced greatly by using both sides of the paper, at least use the back side as scratch paper, instead of a new sheet. You can cut any paper you’re not going to use into squares to use as scratch paper.
These will make for fantastic grocery lists or scratch pads for phone messages and other family notes. Another thing you can do is to try and stop all that unrequested and unneeded mail you get each day.
Adopting a green lifestyle can be accomplished by just decreasing the amount of waste you create every day. While they’re certainly terrific, you don’t need solar panels or a hybrid vehicle to live greener. Do little things that are common sense ways to save. And, whenever possible, adopt sustainable house plans.
