Organic Fruit For Your Organic Baby
Jan 28th, 2010 by Luis
Soon enough your baby will start experimenting with more solid foods and less milk. One of the most common foods to feed your baby is fruit. I remember my precious mother used to give my sisters and me a banana and orange juice mix when we were children. We all three loved it so much and not to mention it was a healthy treat.
To this day I still love it and I’m 29 years old! What my mother used to do is take bananas and mash them up, then she would take the oranges and juice them.
She would then take that orange juice and mix it up with the mashed up bananas. That was it! Let me tell you it is some great stuff that any baby is sure to enjoy. I know my little girl did.
This treat or any other type of of fruit would be even better if you used organic fruit for a number of reasons. Today most of the fruit and vegetables that you see in modern grocery stores and markets is most likely not locally grown and much less organically grown.
An apple sometimes travels 400 miles or more after it has been harvested and then packaged in order to get to your local grocery store. Not only is the freshness of that apple just not there, but in order for them to make sure that apple still looks like it just got picked from your backyard, they have to spray it with chemicals and pesticides.
Washing your fruit thoroughly in water can help remove these chemicals from them, but the bigger problem here is the fact that that fruit or vegetable is not organic. This means that the original nutrients, minerals, and vitamins that the soil gives that fruit or vegetable which in turn are given to us, are not there because nature wasn’t allowed to take it’s course in the growth process of that particular fruit or vegetable.
That is why buying organic fruit is very important if you want your baby to take full advantage of the nutrition that can come from it.
The best places to look for organic fruit or vegetables is in your local Farmer’s Market. Almost every town in the U.S. has one. You can also purchase organic fruit at organic markets and stores. There are also online retailers where they can ship organic fruit to your house such as diamondorganics.com.
The price for organic fruits and vegetables is declining because of the fact that many people are turning to organic products every day. This is good news if you are on a tight budget.
So when your baby gets to that “fruity” stage in life make sure you give him or her the best in organic fruit and vegetables. This is one more way to ensure that your baby is an organic baby.
